Ron Paul may rue the day that he entered the GOP race for the nomination for President. As more of his history has come to light he now has a challenger to his house seat and he is now running second in his own district. I cannot say that I am surprised. Many people who long supported what was to be believed as the whacky Dr. No were troubled by many aspects of the newsletters and the foreign policy of this man. I myself had long looked at his votes with some pleasure, but as i got a closer look all I saw was another nutter. I think that there needs to be a strong libertarian streak in conservatism. The flirting with compassionate conservatism has proved to be liberalism-lite and has not furthered the love of liberty or freedom that many had hoped for. I just no longer believe that Paul is the right standard bearer for that movement. It is time to look to another.

Ah, sorry to say that thousands upon thousands of people think that “whacky Dr. No” is quite rational. Comparing him to such as that MadBomber McCain or that vague, wavey, good-natured fellow, who is all for “change” — as well as for all good things. Still, if you enjoy “looking for another” — Good luck! I’ll stop by now and then to see whom you recommend for a “non-wacky Dr. No” type.
Ron Paul has set up a cult of personality. You follow him as leader but not his politics, fair enough. I am a conservative with Libertarian ideals. I look to a Jeff Flake as a possible successor to the Cult of Paul. I also repeat that he has been vastly ineffective for being on the public stage for so long. Good for the man, but not good for the ideals.
Those newsletters have nothing to do with him run second in the 14th right now. That crap was resolved years ago down there… The president of the Texas NAACP is on record saying that the newsletters are bunk. The guy running against Dr. Paul is Neocon backed. The Neocons are out for revenge, for the pie that Dr. Paul has thrown in their faces.
You may find that not everyone hates the Neocons. In fact, I wish they still had power over Bush’s foreign policy. The Real-politik crowd are a bunch of appeasers. I miss Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rummy!
