Does Joe Klein ever learn? The left’s love of dictators and tyrants aside, what is there to give ANYONE any hope that Bashar Assad is telling the truth. I, for one, am tired of every clichéd leftist that befriends some homicidal tyrant telling me that we need to trust them over our allies. Every jerk that defends a Castro, Chavez or Stalin has a little Joe Klein in them. The man is a liar and a hack. The very fact that Time employs such a snake must make Henry Luce must be rolling in his grave.

Joe Klein is inherently dishonest as any observant reader of his aptly titled blog (the Swampland*) can attest. He slips untruths and distortions throughout his prose, daring the reader to find the Waldo of whoppers. Here is an example pulled at random:

“the box, which is not required by law, and therefore did not need to be printed on the form, simply asks the applicant to verify his or her status as a qualified voter. The whole case has now gone to court. There is a tragic irony to all of this. Back in 2004, the Republican Secretary of State, Ken Blackwell, told state county boards to reject registrations that were not printed on 80-lb. card stock. Back then the shoes were on the other feet. Democrats cried foul, and Republicans said they were just following the law.”

Did you catch that? In 2004 the GOP discarded ballots DUE TO THE LAW, but in 2008 ballots are bring discarded because of a box NOT REQUIRED BY LAW. The Democrats are acting contrary to the law for electoral gain. The GOP was following a law that in the end helped them, but it was THE LAW according to Klein. That is just one reading of his “work”.
